Merriam Periodic Special Events

Revised Aug. 26, 2005.

This page lists some of the special events at Merriam that occur periodically during the school year:

All School Meetings

Every week, on Monday morning and Friday afternoon, all classrooms come together in an All School Meeting in the Cafetorium. These special meetings allow classes and faculty to share current projects, ideas, thoughts, dramas, music, etc., with the whole school. It serves to remind everyone that they belong to the Merriam community and not just a single classroom. (Return to the top.)

Birthday Lunches

On the second Wednesday of each month, Sandra will celebrate with all children having a birthday in that month. August birthdays will be celebrated in September. September birthdays will be celebrated later that month. July birthdays will be celebrated in June.

The children will bring/buy their regular lunch and celebrate with a cake for dessert. Birthday Lunch will be in room 222. If you can help by supplying a cake one month, please contact Sandra. (Return to the top.)

Merriam Afternoons

Merriam Afternoons is a program of weekly classes for kids that go from 3:00 - 4:00 P.M. one day a week, when we are on the early chedule. The program generally runs for ten sessions, beginning in October. Classes that have been popular in the past include chess, drawing/painting, jewelry making, woodworking, papier mâché, basketball, and board games.

The brochure for the program, which includes a registration form, is available here online in Adobe PDF format or at the Merriam office.
