Merriam After Hours is a childcare program for all Parker Damon students in grades K-6. Children in the program participate in a variety of activities including homework help, board games, arts and crafts, computer time and outdoor play. To register your child for Merriam After Hours, complete the registration form and return it with the nonrefundable registration fee to the Merriam Office. Questions? Merriam After Hours provides:
Hours for the program include Before School (7:00am - 8:15am) and After School options (2:45pm - 6:00 M, T, W, F and 12:15 - 6:00pm Th). In the Before School program, parents drop off their children at 7:00am and students spend time in the program before going to their classrooms at 8:15am. Children in the After School program go directly to Merriam After Hours at 2:45pm and stay until 6:00pm. Parents or guardians must pick up their children at 6:00pm. A $5 per minute late fee will be charged after 6:00pm. In the afternoon program, children will get a healthy snack. If you choose to send your child on Thursday afternoons, please remember to pack a lunch.
Rates and Registration Fees for 2009-2010 are on the After Hours Registration Form. Siblings get a 10% discount on tuition.
Cancellation Policy. Merriam After Hours will be canceled whenever the Acton Public Schools are closed (school vacations, holidays, half days not falling on Thursday, snow days) or when the schools have a weather-related delayed opening or early dismissal. After Hours is closed in the afternoon on the last day of school.
Placement. We will give priority placement to all currently enrolled Merriam and McT students who register by February 13, 2009. After that date, applications from families will be processed in the order received. After August 1, we will admit McT students (not currently enrolled) on a space available basis. Prior to August 1, students from McT will be on a waiting list. Registration received after February 13 will be based on space availability. Siblings receive a 10% discount on tuition.
Participation. Your child may participate any day of the week. Once enrolled, your child will keep that schedule for the entire school year. All changes must be requested in writing and will be honored based on available space. One month's written notice is required when withdrawing from the program. All billing is done in advance on a monthly basis. Payment for each month is due on the first day of the previous month. For example, the October payment is due September 1. A late fee will be assessed if payment is five days late.
Merriam Afternoons is a program of weekly classes for kids that runs from 3:00-4:00 PM five days a week and is offered when we are on the early schedule. The program begins mid September and runs for ten weeks. Check the office for a brochure describing the classes being offered.
